Costs & budgeting
Education New Zealand’s guide lists bachelor’s tuition of NZD 35,000–NZD 55,000 a year, with figures updated March 2025; medicine and veterinary science can cost more. Treat this as a dated guide, not a current offer. Its university living-cost examples vary by city and lifestyle. Price accommodation, food, transport, insurance and flights separately for your intended location.
Intakes & timing
Many universities use a first semester around February and a second around July; Massey’s published calendar is one example. Not all courses admit students each semester. Check your programme’s actual intake, international deadline and orientation dates.
Entry requirements
Check the provider’s academic equivalence and English-language requirements for your study level. Postgraduate courses may require a relevant degree; research study may need a proposal and supervisor. Use the official application steps and the selected course page.
Scholarships & funding
Use Education New Zealand’s scholarship information and the university’s own award search. Check nationality, study level, value, duration and closing date. Do not deduct a scholarship from your budget until it has been awarded.
Prepare your application
- Choose your subject, level and preferred intake.
- Compare course content and published academic and language requirements.
- Check the current fee, full living budget and confirmed funding.
- Prepare transcripts and any requested references, statement or portfolio.
- Record admission and scholarship deadlines separately.
- Read offer conditions and deposit/refund terms before accepting.
