Costs & budgeting

Compare each institution’s published international-student cost of attendance: tuition, mandatory fees, housing, meals, insurance, books and personal expenses. EducationUSA emphasises that costs differ widely by institution and region. Check whether a quoted figure covers one academic year or a full programme, and budget for travel and annual increases.

Intakes & timing

Fall entry commonly begins around August/September; spring entry is available at some institutions around January. Application rounds and deadlines vary. Confirm that your chosen programme accepts new international students for the term you want.

Entry requirements

Requirements vary by institution and study level. Prepare academic records and any requested essays, recommendations and English-language evidence. Standardised testing requirements are course-specific—check the current policy rather than assuming SAT, GRE or GMAT is always required.

Scholarships & funding

Search institutional merit awards, need-based aid where available, and graduate assistantships. EducationUSA’s financial-aid search is a useful starting point. Awards can be competitive and may have earlier deadlines than admission; confirm renewal conditions and uncovered expenses.
